The Honolulu Waldorf Teacher Training Program
"Our highest endeavor must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives. The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility ~ these three forces are the very nerve of education."
- Rudolf Steiner, founder of Waldorf education
Kula Makua was created to help implement the educational goals of Rudolf Steiner, the Austrian philosopher and teacher who founded the first Waldorf school. Today, Waldorf education is the fastest growing independent nonsectarian movement in the world, with more than 800 Waldorf schools world-wide. Trained teachers are in very high demand.

Honolulu Waldorf School - Home of Kula Makua
Kula Makua offers a complete and comprehensive two-year training program in Honolulu for those wishing to become Waldorf teachers. Beginning in the fall of 2009 we will also offer a part time, three year training on the Big Island of Hawaii. As a small institute, we are able to fashion programs suited to the individual student, who comes to understand the self in a new way. The studies are well-rounded with seminar work, artistic activity, and plenty of in-service training promoting the inner development of the student teacher. Kula Makua is a developing institute of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America.
